Part-Time Bookeeper/Accountant

Duties
The Bookkeeper/Accountant will work in many different areas of the store and must be adaptable to the changing environment regarding tasks and exigencies.

The first and foremost responsibility is to ensure that all accounting records (sales, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, GST and employee remittances) are kept current and accurate so that timely reporting and analysis may be performed. In addition point of sale data entry, maintenance and analysis will be an important aspect of the A/A assistant’s duties. This is a fast paced, dynamic environment with plenty of interaction with other team members in retail store and floral shop. Ability to work as a team member a must.

The bookkeeping position entails full cycle accounting; maintaining general ledgers and financial statements; post journal entries; prepare trial balance of books; reconcile accounts; calculate and prepare cheques; prepare payroll; daily cash-out reconciliation and recording; gank and credit card reconciliation; enter new inventory into POS system; other responsibilities as assigned by management. Experienced in Quickbooks & GST remittance is essential.

Skills
Windows; general office equipment; Email; Word and Excel, Experience with POS systems a must, as well as with SimplyAccounting (other accounting package software may be acceptable – please list specific experience);

Estimated 15 hours a week. Fluent English a must. Local candidates only.

To accomplish this objective the Administration/Accounting Assistant may:

  1. On a daily basis gather together all sales records & receipts, both paper and electronic, and record in the accounting system.
  2. Assist in data entry of orders/sales into the POS system if required.
  3. Analyze and graph sales categories to establish daily, weekly, and seasonal trends.
  4. Maintain e-mail customer list.
  5. Schedule and assist in employee performance reviews.
  6. Prepare and submit by the 15th of each month Canada Customs and Revenue Agency remittances for employee tax, CPP, UI, with employers contributions.
  7. Prepare on a quarterly basis GST returns and remittances.
  8. Take training on the POS system to effect detailed analyses on customer and product activity.

Full-Time or Part-time Retail Associate

Duties
The Retail Associate will work in many different areas of the store and must be adaptable to the changing environment regarding tasks and exigencies.

The first and foremost responsibility is to sell merchandise and ensure customer satisfaction. To accomplish this objective, the Retail Associate may:

  1. greet customers and assist them in identifying their needs,(e.g. establishing the occasion for the purchase and directing them to the appropriate merchandise).
  2. advise customers on the use and care of merchandise.
  3. answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise.
  4. process payments (cash, cheques, direct debit and charge cards).
  5. assist customers with returns and exchanges of merchandise.
  6. wrap customer purchases or arrange for delivery.
  7. assist in the removal of recyclable materials such as cardboard and design refuse.
  8. assist in store display creation and maintenance.

The Retail Associate must be aware of current store sales promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and store security practices. The Retail Associate will be aware of general store tidiness and when necessary dust, Windex, straighten displays etc. as necessary.

Floral Designer

Duties:

Reporting directly to the Owner / Operator, the successful candidate will assume responsibilities for the day-to-day operations of the arrangements.

We are looking for an experienced designer with a minimum of 5 to 10 years experience in a high-end floral boutique.

The successful candidate must be able to think quickly on their feet, be creative in their designs, and keep in touch with the trends being set.

From an administrative perspective, he / she must also be cost sensitive to the product, and keep accurate records on the design orders. Additionally, 15 to 40 special order arrangements are expected per day as this is a normal occurrence.

More specifically, he / she will:

  • Keep up to date with current trends in floral design and presentation
  • Ensure the merchandise is accurately rotated and spoilage is kept to a minimum
  • Collaborate with the seasonal campaigns and arrangements
  • Assist with corporate functions
  • Some collaboration would be expected in the marketing area
