Florals are a major element of event décor, and event planners are highly involved in creating the design concept. What do you need to know about floral design to enhance your client’s event? Here is a quick guide to floral design to provide you with a working knowledge.

What you can expect

As an event planner, you’ll plan floral arrangements with us. An event’s budget can include flower, bouquets, centerpieces, boutonnieres, and decorative blooms. And we will take on the tasks of ordering, preparing flowers, creating the arrangements for the event, as well as delivery to the event venue. Everything we do is planned around your scheduled event time, to ensure optimal floral freshness.

Some background on flowers

It’s hard to imagine a corporate event without flowers. Knowing which flowers are popular, and what is seasonally available, is important in your event planning.

Here’s a partial list of the flowers that are used in corporate events:

  • Bird of Paradise

  • Orchids (in many varieties)

  • An array of seasonal flowers (ie, Tulips, Peonies, and others)

Arrangements

An event’s budget can include arrangements, centerpieces, boutonnieres and corsages, and special displays. We offer a selection of arrangements, but for special events, there is much customizing that we can do. For example, arrangements can be selected to provide flowers to match the event colour themes. The containers (vases) can be varied for the same reason. For large events the containers may be special-ordered for colour and quantity to suit your exact requirements. The flowers, arrangements, and table centerpieces can be adorned with a variety of accessories, such as LED candles, ribbons, birds, and jewels. We can also incorporate sophisticated LED lighting options into the arrangements, for a special “pop!” We are happy to give you some great ideas!

Lead Times

When you are organizing and planning events, we can do “rush” orders with (almost) no notice. However, for a well-planned event, a 15 to 60 day time horizon is typical, and that allows us to collaborate with you on colours, options, accessories, and budget. This also gives us time for any special orders of containers and decorative accessories for your event.

Start your planning with the contact form or over the phone 403-263-3302 +1. Our website showcases over 100 arrangements and centerpieces to choose from (or use as a starting point) for your event’s specific design.

We create our event arrangements in our downtown Calgary store (right on Stephen Avenue walk) from the flowers in our walk-in cooler, and we also have a wide selection of containers, and accessories in stock. Some people actually need to see and smell the flowers for their event.

From there we will plan and design sample a floral centerpiece (or centerpieces) for your approval. The event arrangements are prepared by our floral designers the day of or the day before an event, and delivered by us to your event venue, for optimal freshness.

We’ve been involved in thousands of events in our 75 aggregate years as florists and floral designers.
